Lakes Center for Youth & Families serves the youth and families in the Forest Lake School District in Washington and Anoka counties and all of Chisago County of Minnesota.

The LC Awards

On Behalf of Youth Award

The “On Behalf of Youth Award” honors individual community members making a difference in the lives of and well-being of youth. One award will be given to an adult and one will be given to a youth.  To be eligible to receive the “On Behalf of Youth Award” the nominee must:

  • Live or work in the Lakes Center for Youth & Families (the LC) primary service area (ISD #831 and all of Chisago County)
  • Not be a current member of the LC's Staff
  • Be a positive role model for youth
  • Break down barriers between youth and adults
  • Provide enthusiastic leadership to youth above and beyond the call of job duties or on a volunteer basis
  • Nominees for the youth award must be in grades 9 – 12
  • A connection to the LC is preferred but not required

2016 OBOY Award Packet

The recipients of the “On Behalf of Youth Award” will be selected by a committee of people made up of LAYSB Board members, Youth Advisory Board Members, past recipients, and community members.  Award recipients will be presented the award in front of friends, family, peers and the public at a special ceremony on a date to be determined.

James Trudeau Award

Each year Lakes Center for Youth & Families (the LC) presents the James Trudeau Award to one law enforcement officer in our service area for their outstanding service to youth. To be eligible to receive the award, the licensed law enforcement officer must:

  • Live or work in the LC’s primary service area which includes the Forest Lake School District #831 communities and all of Chisago County;
  • Be a positive role model for youth
  • Break down barriers between youth and adults
  • Show enthusiasm, leadership, generosity and service to youth above and beyond job duties
  • A connection to the LC is preferred but not required.

The recipient of the “James Trudeau Award” will be selected from all nominations received by the LC's Board of Directors.  Award recipients will be presented the award in front of friends, family, peers and the public at a special ceremony on a date to be determined.

Lifetime Achievement Award:

The “Lifetime Achievement Award” is given to a community resident in recognition of a lifetime of dedication and commitment to serving youth. It is given at the discretion of the LAYSB Board of Directors. This award was established in 1999 with the first recipient being Barbara Swanson, retired LAYSB Executive Director.
