Job Tours

Grade: 9th-12th
When: At least one tour every two months
Information: Join us on a tour at local businesses that are looking for you! See what it's like working at a variety of careers from manufacturing to health care.
Pre-requisites: None!

 

Career Conversations

Grade: 9th-12th
When: At least one tour every two months
Information: During a career conversation, 1-3 employees will speak on a panel about their experience getting into their field and what their career looks like. Come with questions to get answered!
Pre-requisites: None! 

 

Professional Skillsprofessional

Grade: 9th-12th
When: Multiple courses will be offered throughout the year.
Information: Learn about interpersonal skills, teamwork, critical thinking, time amangement, resumes, interviews, and more in a small group. Download a flyer for more information.
Pre-requisites: None! 

 

Job Shadowing

Grade: 10th-12th
When: Based on availability and opportunity
Information: Have a passion for a field and want to get a feel for it? Spend part of the day with an employee in the business and see first hand what life is like in that career.
Pre-requisites: Complete at least 3 Professional Skills sessions 

 

Career-Focused Mentoring

Grade: 10th-12th
When: Based on availability and opportunity
Information: Know what you want to do after high school? Want to get your plans mapped out? Meet one-on-one with a mentor in the same or similar field to get guidance on education, licensures, companies, adapting resumes, and more
Pre-requisites: Complete at least 3 Professional Skills sessions. Interview with a program manager 

 

Apprenticeshipsapprenticeship

Grade: 10th-12th (16+ years old)
When: Based on availability and opportunity
Information: Take the next step and gain actual work experience in the field you are interested in. With a structured learning plan, this is one for the resumes.
Pre-requisites: Completion of the Professional Skills course. Interview with a program manager

 

Job Connection

The Job Connection program is available for residents and youth in the Forest Lake School District area and Chisago County. Residents can check off those tasks on their “to do” list by getting help from teens, ages 12-18, who are eager to gain work experience.
