Mentoring Makes a Difference!

January is National Mentoring Month!  Mentors can play a powerful role in helping young people to succeed.  At its core, mentoring guarantees young people that there is someone who cares about them, assures them they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges, and makes them feel like they matter.  Every kid is one caring adult away from being a success story.  You could be that one caring adult who makes a difference.  Please consider becoming a mentor.

The Making Connections Mentoring Program at Lakes Area Youth Service Bureau is looking for caring adult mentors and youth participants.  There are no special skills required to be a mentor, just a few hours a month and a willingness to help.  Training and ongoing support will be provided.

The mentoring program connects young people with caring adults in the community who can be a positive role model.  This is a free program for youth, ages 10-17 living in Anoka, Chisago or Washington county.  Mentoring matches spend time together (one to two times per month, depending on schedules), doing activities that they both enjoy.
